Carlo D’Orta è nato a Firenze nel 1955. Viaggiatore e fotografo da oltre 40 anni, si dedica allo studio dell’arte contemporanea e si perfeziona in corsi avanzati di pittura nell’ambito della Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA) e di un master in fotografia allo IED di Milano.
Dal 2009 ha esposto le sue opere in mostre personali presso istituzioni pubbliche e gallerie private in Italia, Germania, Singapore e altri paesi, nonché in fiere d’arte in Italia, Inghilterra, Francia e Belgio. Nel 2013 ha tenuto la sua prima mostra personale in un’istituzione museale, Biologia dell’Inorganico, nel Museo di Arte Contemporanea Palazzo Collicola di Spoleto. Nel 2015 l’Officina delle Zattere di Venezia ha ospitato, accanto al Padiglione del Guatemala alla Biennale d’Arte, la sua mostra personale Beyond the Lens, poi portata anche nel Tempio di Pomona a Salerno. Nel gennaio 2017 il National Museum di Singapore ha ospitato un evento dedicato alla sua serie Vibrazioni, e la mostra è stata poi riproposta nella Galleria Bruno Art Group di Singapore nei mesi successivi. Nel 2018 il Museo dell’Archivio Centrale dello Stato a Roma, e poi il Festival Fotografia di Orbetello e la Galleria dell’IPSAR-Istituto Portoghese di S.Antonio a Roma hanno ospitato la sua mostra dedicata ad 80 anni di architetture del quartiere EUR di Roma.
Ha vinto o è stato finalista/selezionato in numerosi premi nazionali e internazionali, tra cui: PX3 Paris, 3° Biennale Arte Contemporanea di Genova, Sony World Photography Award, Celeste Prize, Premio Rospigliosi, Satura International Contest, Premio Arte e Architettura Colleferro, Arteam Cup, Malamegi Vision Art Contest, Premio Linx, Premio Scuola del Vetro Abate Zanetti di Murano (come foto-designer), Premio Enegan Art, Urban Photo Award.

Negli anni 2015-2017, inoltre, i suoi progetti “(S)Composizioni-Metafora della Vita”, “Vibrazioni”, “Liquidance” ed “EUR 42/Oggi: Visioni differenti” sono stati selezionati per entrare a far parte dell’Archivio del Fondo Malerba Fotografia, prestigiosa istituzione dedicata alla promozione della fotografia a livello nazionale e internazionale, che nel 2019 ha esposto le fotografie della serie Vibrazioni anche in mostre organizzate a Tokyo e Cuba.
Carlo D'Orta is born in Florence in 1955. He has been a traveller and photographer for over 40 years, dedicating himself to the study of contemporary art and refining his skills with advanced courses in painting within the Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA) and a master's degree in photography at the IED in Milan.
He has been exhibiting his works since 2009 in solo exhibitions at public institutions and private galleries in Italy, Germany, Singapore, and other countries, as well as at art fairs in Italy, England, France, and Belgium. In 2013 he held his first individual exhibition in a museum institution: Biology of the Inorganic, in the Museum of Contemporary Art in the Collicola Palace of Spoleto. In 2015 the Venice Zattere Workshop hosted his solo exhibition Beyond the Lens next to the Guatemala Pavilion at the Venice Art Biennale. The same exhibition was then also taken to the Temple of Pomona in Salerno. In January 2017, The National Museum of Singapore hosted an event dedicated to his Vibrations series, and the exhibition was shown again at the Bruno Art Group Gallery in Singapore in the following months. In 2018 the Museum of the Central Archives of the State in Rome, and then the Orbetello Photography Festival and the Gallery of the IPSAR-Portuguese Institute of St. Anthony in Rome hosted his exhibition dedicated to 80 years of architecture in the EUR district of Rome.

Additionally, between 2015-2017 his projects "(S)Compositions-Metaphor of Life", "Vibrations", "Liquidance" and "EUR 42/Today: Different Visions" were chosen to become part of the Archive of the Malerba Photography Fund, a prestigious institution dedicated to the promotion of photography at national and international level, which in 2019 also displayed the photographs of the Vibrations series in exhibitions organized in Tokyo and Cuba.
