Fotografare il paesaggio con gli occhi della metafisica e del surrealismo, portando con me reminiscenze delle lezioni di Antoni Gaudì e Salvator Dalì, mescolate alle forti suggestioni della visione onirica di Niki de Saint Phalle e dei piani traslati o specchianti di Francis Bacon e Michelangelo Pistoletto. Questo è lo scopo del progetto “Paesaggi Surreali”. Un progetto nato sulle terre e nelle città italiane.
E’ un ritorno sui luoghi in cui noi italiani siamo cresciuti, densi della nostra cultura classica e della nostra arte rinascimentale e barocca, cercando però di immergermi in essi in modo personale, originale e pittorico, per penetrarne lo spirito più a fondo. E’ un modo per indagare e suggerire - attraverso la distorsione delle forme prodotta dal riflesso di superfici specchianti e la manipolazione pittorica dei colori – le trasformazioni, i progressi, le difficoltà e le ansie della nostra civiltà. Il paesaggio si trasforma in sogno e, come nella psicanalisi, attraverso il sogno racconta a noi stessi e agli altri le emozioni più profonde.

Caldi colori danzano allegramente gli uni intorno agli altri in acuti contrasti, come in un´estatica ebbrezza. Le superfici tremolano come se il fotografo avesse come obiettivo delle masse gelatinose. Le linee si rendono autonome e si separano dagli oggetti per dare vita a qualcosa di nuovo…Gli edifici e i dettagli nelle riprese sono reali, le figure fotografate sono interpretazioni dalla forma espressiva particolarmente interessante…perché Carlo D´Orta trasforma le chiare forme dell’architettura in un´immagine vitale: raggiante ed espressiva. Nelle sue riprese si risveglia un sorprendente lato poetico dell’architettura. Grazie a ritagli mirati e ai riflessi il fotografo riesce a modificare lo sguardo sull’oggetto. Agendo sulla composizione e sui colori, sui contrasti e sulla luce, su scene vivaci o senza figure umane, D´Orta ottiene una nuova prospettiva di osservazione. Riflessi, distorsioni, deformazioni di proporzioni statiche, aumenti di elementi grafici e, molto importante, accentuazione dei colori, donano al reale un´apparenza surreale e quindi anche un carattere pittorico.
Pittorico? Eppure si tratta di fotografia! …Carlo D´Orta fotografa con passione già da 35 anni, ma il suo stile fotografico si è modificato in modo rilevante nel tempo. Precisamente dal 2003, quando si è iscritto ai corsi avanzati di pittura della Rome University of Fine Arts-Libera Accademia di Belle Arti. D´Orta ha sfruttato le proprie esperienze e conoscenze pittoriche nella fotografia, sviluppando una particolare sensibilità per i fenomeni ottici. L’artista coglie ora nuove visioni attraverso la macchina fotografica…Linee, superfici e colori: l´espressione figurativa ed emotiva! Ci sono cose, o meglio sensazioni, che vengono espresse in un´immagine e avvertite dall´osservatore e per le quali è molto difficile o addirittura impossibile trovare le parole adatte. Così un tale stato d´animo indefinito è per l’osservatore effimero, inesprimibile, non immediatamente afferrabile. Durante un simile processo di percezione l´artista comunica all’osservatore la propria esperienza tramite l´opera. Se poi l´osservatore a sua volta riconosce nell´immagine dell’artista la propria esperienza personale e viene toccato da essa, qualcosa si muove dentro di lui; l´immagine formula qualcosa di familiare che attraverso l´esperienza e il linguaggio dell´artista emoziona, completa il processo di elaborazione dell´osservatore e infine assume pienezza. Questo era già stato in precedenza intuito da Kandinsky riguardo la propria pittura ed è anche quanto Carlo D´Orta si augura per le proprie fotografie.

Photographing the landscape through the eyes of metaphysics and surrealism, taking with me memories of the lessons of Antoni Gaudi and Salvador Dali mixed with the strong emotions of the dream vision of Niki de Saint Phalle and plans shifted or mirrored by Francis Bacon and Michelangelo Pistoletto. This is the purpose of the project “Surreal Landscapes”. A project born on the land and in Italian cities. It's a return to the places where we Italians are grown, full of our culture and of our classical Renaissance and Baroque art, but trying to immerse myself in them in a more personal way, to penetrate deeper into the spirit. But it is also something more. It 's a way to investigate and suggest - through the distortion of the shapes produced by the reflection of the mirror surfaces, and (sometimes) the handling of paint colors - the transformations, progress, difficulties and anxieties of our civilization. The landscape is transformed in a dream and, as in psychoanalysis, through the dream it tells to ourselves and to others the deepest emotions .

Hot colors dance merrily around each other in sharp contrasts, as in an ecstatic thrill. The surfaces flicker as if the photographer had as its objective the gelatinous masses. The lines become autonomous and separate from the objects to create something new ... The buildings and details in the shooting are real, the figures are photographed interpretations by the form of expression is particularly interesting because ... Carlo D'Orta transforms the clear forms of architecture in a lively picture: radiant and expressive. In his shooting awakens an astonishing poetic side of architecture. With clippings and targeted reflections the photographer is able to change the look on the object. By altering the composition and colors , contrasts and light, vivid scenes of human figures or not, D'Orta gets a new lease of observation. Reflections, distortion, deformation of static proportions, increases graphics, and most importantly, color highlighting , give the real and surreal appearance so even a pictorial character.
Pictorial? Yet it comes to photography! Carlo D'Orta photographer ... with passion for 35 years already, but his photographic style has changed significantly over time. Precisely since 2003, when he enrolled at the advanced courses in painting of Rome University of Fine Arts- University of Fine Arts D'Orta has leveraged its experience and knowledge in pictorial photography , developing a particular sensitivity to optical phenomena . The artist captures now new visions through the camera ... Lines, surfaces and colors: the figurative expression and emotional! There are things, or better sensations, which are expressed in an image and perceived by the observer and for which it is very difficult or even impossible to find the right words. Thus such a state of mind is undefined for the observer ephemeral, ineffable, not immediately graspable. During such a process of perception, the artist communicates to the viewer through their own experience of the work. If the observer then in turn recognizes the image of the artist's own personal experience and is touched by it, something is moving inside him, the image of something familiar formula that through experience and the language of the artist excited, completes the process of elaboration of the observer and finally assumes full. This had been previously understood about his own paintings by Kandinsky and also as Carlo D'Orta hopes for your photos.
